How Free Are You from Your Business?

A 5-minute self-assessment to uncover your financial independence gap

This diagnostic tool is designed to give you a snapshot of where you stand today. In just five minutes, you’ll uncover how well you’re balancing key priorities and whether you’re truly building toward financial freedom or are at risk of the unspoken fear many business owners have—“what if all this work doesn’t get me free?”

The 3Rs® framework—Reward, Reinvest, and Repurpose—is a simple but powerful approach to dynamic financial planning. It is designed to help business owners achieve personal freedom while growing a valuable business. It encourages you to reward yourself for the risks you take, reinvest in your business with intention, and repurpose profits to build independence from the business itself.

Section 1: Quick Self-Assessment (Scored)

Use a simple 1–5 scale where:
1 = Not at all true
5 = Very true

Statement Score

I know how much personal wealth I need to be financially independent.

I could step back from my business for 30 days without disrupting business performance.

Less than 50% of my net worth is tied to my business.

I have a clear exit timeline and strategy.

I intentionally allocate profits across Reward (paying myself), Reinvest (growing my business), and Repurpose (diversifying my wealth).

Total Score = _____ /25

Interpretation Key:

  • 20–25: You’re on track — just fine-tuning needed.
  • 13–19: You’re exposed — time to get proactive.
  • 0–12: You’re at risk — too much depends on the business.

Section 2: Your Current 3Rs® Allocation

Roughly, how did you allocate profits over the past 12 months?

Category % of Profit

Reward (pay yourself)

Reinvest (grow business)

Repurpose (diversify)

Are you building toward personal freedom, or just fueling the machine? There’s no prescribed formula. Awareness and intentionality linked to a plan are the key.

Section 3: What’s Your Narrative?

In 3–4 sentences, describe what ‘freedom from your business’ would look like for you in 5 years.

Do your answers from the prior sections align? What’s standing in the way?

Let’s Talk About It—My Invitation to You
